Queen Elizabeth I pocket pistol
This piece of artillery is located on the grounds of Dover Castle in Dover, England. It was and is referred to as the Queen Elizabeth I "pocket pistol," probably because of its length. An approximate measurement of the bore would lead me to believe that it was an 18 or 24 pounder.

Sketching Screen
The Sketching screen is used as an assistance tool for sketching from real life. The screen is centered on the area to be sketched, and then the artist looking through the eye piece draws only what he sees in the small rectangles formed by the wire grid. In this way the artist can concentrate on the specific parts of the area of particular interest.
Mortar Barge -- Side View
Many of these Barges were used in the assault on Vicksburg and other river cities during the Civil War.
